Have you ever experienced a season where you found yourself in places you felt unqualified to be? A time when blessings seemed to pour in, one after another, and you couldn’t help but marvel at the goodness of God? I’m currently going through such a season of unmerited favour that reminded me of our Creator’s astonishing and gracious nature.
This remarkable journey of favour reminded me of the biblical account of Joseph, whose life was marked by extraordinary favour. Joseph’s story, found in the book of Genesis, is an incredible example of God’s ability to lift us beyond our qualifications and place us in positions of influence and impact.
A series of remarkable events marked Joseph’s life. He was sold into slavery by his jealous brothers, wrongly accused and imprisoned, yet God’s favour was with him every step. He interpreted dreams in prison, eventually leading him to stand before Pharaoh and become the second-in-command of all Egypt. Joseph’s journey exemplifies how God can use unfavourable circumstances to propel us into positions of influence and favour.
This lifestyle of unmerited favour reminded me that because God’s favour is upon us, we should be ready to sing songs of praise. But how can we position ourselves for such a life of favour in Christ Jesus?
Seek God’s Will: Joseph obeyed God’s guidance even in difficult circumstances. We, too, should seek God’s will and be willing to follow His path, even when it doesn’t make sense.
Maintain a Positive Attitude: Joseph remained positive and faithful to God’s promises. A positive attitude can attract God’s favour and open doors of opportunity.
Embrace Humility: Joseph’s humility and service-oriented attitude in prison and the palace were key to his elevation. Humility is an attractive quality in the eyes of God. This is one of my greatest takeaways this season. Pride comes before a fall. Humble yourself and watch God lift you up.
Trust God’s Timing: Even when life takes unexpected turns, trust that God’s timing is perfect. Joseph waited patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.
Praise and Gratitude: Quickly praise and thank God for His blessings and favour. A heart filled with gratitude attracts more of His favour.
In Psalm 103, King David understands this and releases a heartfelt expression of gratitude and worship, emphasising the goodness and mercy of God. he offers praise for the Lord for His benefits and blessings, acknowledging that God forgives all our sins, heals our diseases, and redeems our lives from destruction. David’s words reflect the idea of God’s favour and unmerited grace, a central theme in the psalm. “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name.” It is a beautiful reminder to continually praise and thank God for His abundant favour, grace, and blessings in our lives.
The Psalm encourages us to remember all the wonderful things God has done for us and to bless His holy name. It speaks of God’s compassion, patience, and loving-kindness. No wonder he was a man after God’s heart.
Acknowledge God’s incredible favour and goodness in our lives and respond with a heart full of praise and gratitude.
God’s favour knows no bounds. His goodness and grace are beyond measure, and when we align our lives with His purpose and posture ourselves with faith, humility, and gratitude, we can expect to see His unmerited favour at work in our lives. So, let’s sing songs of praise and celebrate the amazing and gracious God we serve. His favour is upon us!
