God Has Called You – He Will Qualify You
Do you ever feel incapable of answering God’s call in your life? Do you hesitate because of what others might think or perhaps due to your self-doubt? If so, you’re not alone. Many of us grapple with these uncertainties, but the story of Moses in Exodus 4 offers a powerful lesson on how God equips and qualifies those He calls.
In Exodus 4:1-2, Moses, a humble shepherd tending to his flock, encounters a divine call that feels far beyond his abilities. God instructs him to go to Pharaoh and lead the Israelites out of Egypt, a daunting and perilous task. Overwhelmed by doubt and fear, Moses questions his qualifications, saying, “What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you’?”
It’s a common human response to question our readiness and fear what others might think. But God’s response to Moses in verse 2 is a profound reminder of His faithfulness and ability to equip us for the tasks He assigns: “Then the Lord said to him, ‘What is that in your hand?’ ‘A staff,’ he replied.”
God’s question to Moses is a pivotal moment, not just in his story but also for each of us. He wants us to understand that it’s not about our inadequacies or the opinions of others; it’s about what we have in our hands, what He has already given us. Moses’ staff was a simple tool, yet God would use it for extraordinary purposes, including parting the Red Sea.
Likewise, God has equipped you with unique talents, skills, and experiences. He knows what He has placed in your hands and calls you to trust in His knowledge of who you are and what you were created to do. When you focus on what God has provided rather than what you lack, you can step out in faith. This theme was playing on my mind as I prepared for our 6th annual Understanding Money program. It started with me simply saying yes to writing an article in a magazine for my friend, and I have gone on exploits, including two conferences in Zimbabwe, to do with this vision that God had put inside of me even when I felt and often feel least qualified to execute it. I have marvelled over the years as the Lord brings the best of the best and experts in their fields to help me execute the mandate which comes with a different commision each year. It truly is the doing of the Lord and wonderful to behold. He could have done it without me but he chose to include me into this wonderful plan to build generational wealth through financial literacy. I am the biggest student of the classroom!I get boggled by the number of lives are being transformed through the program and teachings and the testimonies that follow the work and task I daily am saying yes to.
So don’t let fear of what others think or self-doubt hold you back from fulfilling God’s call in your life. God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called. You do not have to have it all together as you start, God will bring you an A-Team who will help you put everything together and it will be part of their calling to help you too. As you recognise the potential within you and trust in His guidance, you’ll find the strength to step out in faith, just as Moses did.
Remember, God is with you, just as He was with Moses. He will empower you to accomplish great things and fulfill His purposes. So, take that step, use what you have in your hands, and answer His call. The world may doubt you, but God has already qualified you for the journey ahead.
